Editorial services
Whatever the type of document, editing brings out the best in it, so your words accurately convey your message.
We can completely rewrite your documents or simply edit your existing documents to make them more effective in achieving your objectives.
Structural editing: needs to be carried out to ensure appropriate structure, content, language, and style are present for your market. Structural editing assesses the document's integrity and whether additional material needs to be included, such as illustrations, glossary, index, cross-referencing, or tables. This is the point at which any rewriting or rewording is done.
Copy editing: tidies up discrepancies and looks at: use of language, grammar, spelling, punctuation, style, clarity of expression and cross-references within the text. If required footnoting accuracy and other textual notes are examined.
Proofreading: this is the important final stage in the editing process and entails more than just running your manuscript through a computer spellchecker! It ensures every aspect of the text in general is in order including that spelling and punctuation are correct, and consistency across: chapter headings, page numbers, contents listing, and running heads.
Writing services
We provide copywriting services for communication material such as brochures, flyers, press releases, and website content. We also provide writing services for longer in-depth documents such as company histories. Depending on your requirements, we can also carry out research, interviews, and ghost writing.
Manuscript Assessment: we offer full and partial manuscript assessment services.
Other services available: mentoring; back cover blurb writing; indexing; listing abbreviations; listing references; checking of printer's proofs.

Book production
We manage the whole printing and book production process from start to finish.
Design and layout: it is essential to ensure the layout and design of your publication attracts attention, allows for ease of reading and that it enhances the words and graphics included. In creating your publication's design and layout, we are careful to combine the graphics, print font and size, and other elements so they will clarify and compliment the intent of the project. In designing your publication we will consider its size, page design, chapter openings, and graphics which can be photographs, pictures, illustrations, charts, maps, etc.
Typesetting: this follows on from the design and layout stage and is the process of 'laying out' your book on the computer ready for printing. We will discuss the interior design of your book with you to ensure it is clear, elegant, and accessible for the reader.
Production: whether your project is a booklet of 12 pages or a book of 250 pages, there are certain standards that are followed to ensure its smooth production. We will discuss the options and come up with the perfect format for your project. Click here to see the standard range of book formats and sizes.
Printing: we will obtain quotes from several printers, evaluate these, and then present you with the various options. Once a printer is chosen, we will liaise with them to ensure your book is correctly printed, check the printer's proofs, and ensure your book is delivered from the printer on time and to budget.
ISBNs and barcodes: if you would like to sell your book through bookshops then you will need an ISBN (international standard book number) and the related barcode displayed on the book. We can organise this service for you and incorporate it as part of the design.
Cataloguing-in-publication (CiP) entry: every book published in Australia must be printed with Cataloguing-in-publication details. Longueville Books can obtain these on your behalf and ensure they are correctly reproduced in your book.
