The Longueville logo
The Longueville logo design was inspired by
the designs of Richard Turner (b. Dublin, 1798 – d. 1881). Turner
was an innovative iron glasshouse designer, whose sophisticated construction
techniques and decorative details gave his buildings a lightness and
elegance of design unmatched at the time. He used standardised components
and prefabricated elements manufactured off-site for later assembly,
together with curved glass in long lengths.
His works include:
 |
- Conservatory at Longueville House, Ireland
- Palm House at Kew Gardens (1844-48), with architect Decimus Burton
- Glasshouse in the Winter Gardens at Regent's Park, London (c.1845)
- Palm House at Belfast Botanic Gardens (1840)
- Railway Sheds in the Westland Row, Broadstone, Dublin
- Railway Sheds at Lime Street, Liverpool
